Writing music for the film "Fine Line" was just as easy and natural., how to love or think about a distant homeland, whose image has forever settled in my heart, as something very dear and indelibly memorable. The main idea of writing soundtracks is to "grow" all the musical material from the main theme of the fight. It, being the main leitmotif, connects with a red thread all the events of the film, reflecting different experiences, the thoughts and actions of the main characters. Music unobtrusively reflects the depth and integrity of the soul, its pain and confusion, its aspiration and enlightenment, its despair and hope...
Everything grows from the bowels of the main Theme of the fight, which, crawling slowly, creates the basic character of the entire film. It, like ancient ancestors, talks about the problems and sorrows of this world, that have remained unchanged for many centuries.
From the same theme of struggle, its antipode grows - the theme of hope.. It doesn't fight the main theme, but serves as its kind of "wrong side", changeling. In it you can hear the melody of a Russian melody, "broken" soul, striving for the light, praying for peace and understanding in this world. Humility and obedience, the inevitability of events and forcing feelings are conveyed by the main timbres of clarinet and flute instruments. Despite its polarity, main themes like day and night complement each other, serving the same purpose - to show a peculiar world, where kindness and understanding, kinship of souls and compassion help to survive pain and despair, leading, in the end, to the final scene. This scene is the climax of the whole movie., where the theme of hope is freed from the yoke of the theme of struggle, rejoicing in the ringing sounds of victory, “flying away” on the long-awaited plane together with the main characters far beyond the clouds… The theme of Hope is a symbol of a dream, that lingers in the soul of every person, helping to live and hope. This belief in, that a person can survive the loss that has been fettering for centuries, pain and despair, if at least a small "candle end" is still glimmering in the bowels of his heart.
